How do we replace the faulty systems, beliefs, symbols that exist in our lives? Through an experience of alternatives. Faulty systems are stories we have created, for example I heard Charles Eisenstein in a pod cast recently, he said if we create a story of ourselves as separate and the Earth as a resource then that is how we will treat the Earth, If we have an experience of oneness and as a result believe we are connected to nature, Earth and each other we will treat other’s suffering as our own, we will treat others and the Earth as sacred.
How do we have an experience of oneness? An experience of connection? There are several ways for example, yoga, meditation, plant medicine; I also believe that experiential education with horses will offer you an experience of connection.
There is a human underneath all the ideology, it is up to us as humans to connect with each other on a human level. But when we fail to do so, horses can help us. Horses can see our authentic selves, our being-ness and that act alone can be the transformative experience needed to shift. They can also act as a bridge back to nature, a healing thread that leads us back to the wider natural world around us.
When we can operate from a place of love, our vision is clear, we can see our peers as they truly are, as fellow humans that have the same desire to be loved that we do. We want to be seen beyond our constructed identity and the horses offer this to us.
The Eponaquest activities I facilitate with the horses also offer education through experience. When you feel what you are taught in action, you remember it. A process of discovery is essential for any true learning to occur. What works, what doesn’t work, and how did it feel during both moments? This is the framework for change. Experiences that contradict what you’ve been taught about yourself (your pre-programmed sub conscious mind) can liberate you, they lead you back to your authentic self and the memory of what that feels like.
The broad ideologies and systems that shape our society are upheld by us, the individuals. Therefore, transformation on a wider scale can only occur if we shift on a personal level. To experience an expanded perspective is the only way to change a perspective. If each of us commits to our own development we are contributing to a global shift.
Personal and Leadership development training with horses reveals what each individual needs to address, the horses respond differently to each person and in doing so they get straight to the heart of the matter. We have only begun to understand the complexity of how this works and why, I would suggest you feel it to believe it!
